First cases of coronavirus reported in Gowanda, Collins

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz announced late Monday evening that the village of Gowanda and town of Collins have recorded their first positive cases of the coronavirus.

Poloncarz, in a social media post, also noted a rising amount of cases with 1,163 in the largest county in Western New York. Additionally, he reported 223 recoveries and 30 deaths. Poloncarz said there are 910 active cases as of Monday evening.

In addition, Kaleida Health of Buffalo announced its numbers tied to the virus by facility through Monday afternoon:

— Buffalo General -Inpatients: 32 confirmed cases currently in-house (21 in ICU, 11 in medical unit); 23 in-house that are under investigation; 96 additional patients were tested but are negative.

— Millard Fillmore Suburban — Inpatients: 31 confirmed cases currently in-house (15 in ICU, 16 in medical unit); 21 in-house that are under investigation; 37 additional patients were tested but are negative.

— DeGraff Memorial — No confirmed case currently in-house; two in-house that are under investigation; one additional patient was tested but are negative.

— Oishei Children’s — One confirmed case currently in-house; three in-house that are under investigation and 11 additional patients were tested but are negative.

— Long-term care — One confirmed case currently in-house @ HighPointe on Michigan and additional patient under investigation at DeGraff Memorial Skilled Nursing Facility.
