GOWANDA — Two scouts visited the Village Board in March before the coronavirus took hold on our region with questions for the board.

“What do you like best about your job?” asked the first scout.

“I like my job because I like to help and serve the people and I’ve been doing it for quite a long time,” said Carol Sheibley, deputy mayor.

All the other members of the board also explained why they love their jobs, including giving back to the people and helping the community.

“When you are able, you should have a servant’s heart and try to work as hard as you can to serve those around you. While I’m able, that’s what I’ll try to do,” said Mayor David Smith.

“What is your job entitled?” asked the next scout.

The board members explained what they do and why it is important to the community.
