More Fredonia school students to return Monday

Everything is ready to go Monday for grades three to five at the Fredonia Central School district.

“Everyone is looking forward to classes resuming Monday,” said board President Brian Aldrich. “There has not been any change of plans and we can’t wait to move forward.”

Earlier this month Interim Superintendent Dr. Colleen Taggerty announced the reopening of school for those through grade five. Grades three to five will return with a hybrid model beginning starting Monday. Grades three to four with last names A-K will attend on Tuesday and Thursday and those with last names L-Z will attend on Wednesday and Friday. Both groups will attend school in-person on alternating Mondays. For fifth-graders, the same schedule will be followed, but Monday will be a remote-learning day for all students.

Those in grades six to 12 will return on a hybrid model starting Nov. 12. That hybrid model, however, is still being developed. “Please understand that change is inevitable as we move through this school year,” Taggerty said. “As we learn to adjust, we will change in order to do what is best for our learners.”
