Lakewood man accused of exposing self to youths

John Hollingsworth

JAMESTOWN — A Lakewood man already facing a public lewdness charge in the village is now accused of exposing himself to several youths in Jamestown.

The Jamestown Police Department on Saturday announced the arrest of 41-year-old John L. Hollingsworth on charges of public lewdness and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Officers were called at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday to Front Street for a report of a suspicious person; Hollingsworth was found seated in a parked vehicle.

According to Capt. Robert Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department, an investigation found that the village man would allegedly park his vehicle on a street then walk around the neighborhood exposing himself. Among those he exposed himself to were several youths.

Hollingsworth was arraigned in Jamestown City Court and released with appearance tickets.

The Lakewood-Busti Police Department on Friday announced a public lewdness charge against Hollingsworth after the department was also alerted to a suspicious person report Wednesday on East Third Street. The village man was said to have exposed himself near a residence.

“Based on the details provided by the witness, it was found that an adult male was the only victim of the time of the incident,” the department said in a news release.

Samuelson confirmed Saturday that the charges are not related to two recent reports of students within the Jamestown Public Schools District being approached by suspicious men. One such report came Thursday when two students said they were followed by “two suspicious males” near Lincoln Elementary School. The students notified the school’s principal, and Jamestown police said they were investigating the incident.
