In-person learning to resume next week in Fredonia

Come March 1, Fredonia Central Schools will return to in-person instruction for a number of grade levels. In a letter posted to its website and signed by Superintendent Dr. Bradley Zilliox, a timeline was announced on Friday. It includes:

≤ Grades three, four and five will return to school in person five days a week beginning March 1.

≤ Grade 12 hybrid students will return to school in person four days a week beginning March 2.

≤ Grade nine hybrid students will return to school in person four days a week beginning March 16.

≤ Grades 10 and 11 hybrid students will return to school in person four days a week beginning March 23.

Zilliox said Mondays will remain remote for all high school students.

“Please keep in mind that this phase of return to school maintains options for our families who wish their students to remain remote. More specific information will follow from your student’s building level administration, he said.

Fredonia, which has faced criticism from parents in recent months over issues with in-person learning, has been methodical in its process. In recent weeks, the district was waiting on a community survey. Zilliox said they wanted all available feedback on the plans of parents and students before any decisions.

“We look forward to seeing more students in our hallways in the near future,” he said.
