Gowanda hears update on high school
The high school weight room will become a technology center.
GOWANDA — Gowanda Superintendent Dr. Robert Anderson gave an update on the school’s capital project that is going on at the high school. This project is an overhaul of several of the school’s athletic facilities, including their rock climbing wall and weight room.
“The rock wall is completely gone now,” Anderson said. “And the old weight room has been completely gutted and demolished. The concrete floor is going to be polished in a couple weeks, and soon it’ll be the new high school technology room. This will link to a domino effect in this entire complex.”
Additionally, the baseball and softball fields at Gowanda got new backstops and wind fences. Just last week, the teams from Hilbert and D’Youville came to use the facilities at Gowanda, and in that same week, the lights at the softball field were turned on for the first time.
Dr. Anderson noted that by fall or winter of this year, the new complex added to the Gowanda High School will be “amazing,” and that by this time next year, the construction will switch over to the elementary school.
