Several departments called to fire in Portland

Several departments were summoned to a fire that broke out early Friday south of the village of Brocton. Firefighters were notified of the blaze at 6026 Ellicott Road at 3:20 a.m. Upon arrival, fire officials reported a fully engulfed structure. Everyone managed to get out of the home; no injuries were reported. County fire investigators were called to the scene to determined the cause of the blaze. Assisting Brocton and Portland crews were firefighters from West Dunkirk, Westfield, Chautauqua and Stockton. Chautauqua County EMS and sheriff’s deputies also responded.
