Dunkirk seniors announce upcoming events, trips

The October birthday luncheon was held at the Dunkirk Senior Center. The Dunkirk Senior Center has announced the following upcoming events: today, Casino Trip to Seneca Buffalo Creek. The birthday luncheon for November will be at Wednesday at 11 a.m. Anyone with a November birthday is asked to call the Senior Center to register.

You may bring a guest at a cost of $5. Big Bingo will also be on Wednesday. Doors open at 4 p.m. with a light dinner being served at 4:30. Bingo begins at 5.

On Tuesday, Nov. 30, the Dunkirk Senior Center will honor Barbara Bajdas for all her years of service at the Senior Center. There will be a “Cake and Coffee Get Together” to honor her. This is also her 84th birthday. Stop by the Center between 10 a.m. and noon to thank Bajdas for all she has done and show her how much she is appreciated.

On Sunday, Dec. 5, the Dunkirk Senior Center is sponsoring “Patsy Cline” Dinner and a Show. Doors open at Noon. Dinner will be served at 12:30 p.m. Patsy Cline tribute will follow dinner. Seventy-five members only.

On Tuesday, Dec. 7, the Senior Center is sponsoring a Christmas Trip to: Christmas at the Botanical Gardens. The Poinsettia Christmas display with model trains is a beautiful way to start the season. Following the Botanical Gardens will be a stop at Our Lady of Victory Basilica in Lackawanna.

Lunch will be at Ilio DiPaolo’s Restaurant. We will end with shopping at Woyshner’s Christmas Shoppe. Cost of the trip is $40. Bus departs at 9 a.m. with return approximately at 4. Stop at the Center to register.

Dues of $5 for the 2022 year are being accepted in the office starting this week. Anyone reaching the age of 85 before January 31, 2022 is eligible for an Honorary Membership with no payment.

Social time is held at the center every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. Bring your bag lunch and play 25-cent bingo. Dominoes are played on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Advance Tai Chi is held Tuesday and Thursday at 3 p.m. Mahjong is played Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Pinochle is played Monday and Friday at 1 p.m. Exercise is Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. Call the Office if interested in any of the electronic classes.

The bottle cap guess continues for the month of November. The September winner was Phyllis Crockett, the October winner was Joe Rozen who guessed the exact amount.

Health Care representatives and Insurance Agencies are available at the Senior Center to discuss Health Care Options. Contact the Center for dates and times. Remember December 7, 2021 ends enrollment changes.
