American Legion holds flag disposal ceremony

Members of Post 59 and the Sons of the American Legion Post 59, 156 E. Main St., Fredonia, conducted a dignified disposal of unserviceable flags ceremony on Sept. 8 at the home of Dan Johnson. The ceremony for disposal of unserviceable flags is outlined in Resolution 440, passed by the 19th National Convention of The American Legion in New York, Sept. 20-23, 1937. The ceremony has been an integral part of American Legion ritual since that date.
