Arkwright appoints new assessor

ARKWRIGHT — For the first time in decades, the Town of Arkwright will have a new assessor.

At a recent Town Council meeting, the Arkwright Town Board accepted the resignation of Signe Rominger for the purpose of her retirement.

“First let me thank the township of Arkwright for the opportunity to proudly serve the township for many years. … I was truly blessed with this opportunity to work and to serve,” Rominger said in a letter to the board.

“I think it’s time for someone else to take the role of assessor going forward,” Rominger added

Effective at the end of the mont, Rominger will relinquish her post to newly appointed assessor Erica Munson, who also serves in Dunkirk.

“She has a lot of interest in taking on a small town,” said Town Supervisor Brian McAvoy. “She’s really sharp, really personable and engaging.”

Munson will begin at the same pay rate as Rominger and was appointed to a customary six-year term. Rominger’s resignation comes at the end of her most recent six-year contracted term.
