Dunkirk-Fredonia street hockey league taking a shot
Before the puck drops for any hockey game, you have to know who wants to play. That’s why interest is being sought by the D&F Recreation League for a local summer Street Hockey League in an attempt to create more sporting opportunities for local youth and adults.
“The aim is to create more opportunities for the community to bond. We hope to establish a group of excited athletes of all skills to spend their summer making new friends, new hobbies, and to play some hockey,” said Joey Newton, Co-Founder of the D&F Recreation League. Newton is a former youth hockey player for the NCCYHA Steelers who now attends SUNY Fredonia double-majoring in Music Education and Music Composition.
For a small membership fee, equipment is expected to be provided and a small prize will be available for the winning team. More information will become available once the D&F Recreation League is able to gauge the interest level of the public.
Anyone interested is urged to email DnFRecLeague@gmail.com or check out D&F Street Hockey on Facebook. A form to fill out and show your support is available on Facebook.
