Two Ohio man were nabbed after a Sunday night pursuit by multiple agencies. Around 10:07 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted that Dunkirk Police Department was in a vehicle pursuit with a stolen vehicle out of Ohio. Deputies took over the pursuit on Route 5 near Willow Road, in the town of Dunkirk. The suspect vehicle was a 2003 Honda Civic operating westbound on Route 5, committing multiple lane violations in a reckless manner. The vehicle ultimately became disabled in a vineyard on Lakeview Road near Route 60 in the town of Pomfret. The occupants fled the vehicle and a foot pursuit commenced. Deputies were able to apprehend the passenger, Jorge Toledo, 19, of Cleveland. The operator of the vehicle was at large, and a multi-agency search of the area was conducted. A perimeter was established, and Chautauqua County Sheriffs K-9 Drake and K-9 Bentley were deployed on a human odor track. The operator, Sammy Carrasquillo Jr., 20, of Cleveland was located shortly after and was found to be laying down in tall grass in close proximity to the disabled vehicle. Carrasquillo was placed into custody without incident and was transported to Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for processing. Toledo was involved in a stolen vehicle complaint earlier in the day that the State Police at Fredonia were investigating and was turned over to them. Carrasquillo was brought to the Chautauqua County Jail for the Centralized Arraignment Program and charged with third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree reckless endangerment and multiple traffic violations. Toledo was also arraigned for third-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
