Two Jamestown Men Implicated In March Shooting

JAMESTOWN — Two Jamestown men have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Dunkirk man in March.

City police announced late Thursday night that William Hernandez, 53, and Juan C. Rivera, 35, of Jamestown likely face charges from a Chautauqua County Grand Jury in relation to the shooting of Trevon Tripp of Dunkirk on March 18 at 839 Prendergast Ave., Jamestown. Both men have been charged in unrelated incidents.

“Multiple individuals were injured during this incident and information continues to develop,” the report states. “Over the course of the investigation detectives have identified several individuals who were involved in the incident and the detectives have been gathering further details along with physical evidence.”

According to scanner reports, two shooting victims were reported at 839 Prendergast Ave. on March 19 with one person reportedly shot in the chest. Police Chief Timothy Jackson confirmed that night one person was taken to UPMC Hamot in Erie and also said “multiple rounds” had been fired inside the building, which was deemed vacant. It was later reported a third person was also involved in the shooting.

Rivera was charged March 19 with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail on $50,000 bail. On Thursday, police charged Hernandez with first-degree robbery. He will be arraigned in Jamestown City Court.

“As stated earlier, the investigation is continuing and further charges are expected to be presented to a Chautauqua County Grand Jury at a later time by the District Attorney’s Office,” the release states.
