Jamestown woman charged with animal abuse
JAMESTOWN — A Jamestown woman has been charged with animal abuse.
Police report Caroline R. Penhollow, 26, of Jamestown was charged with two counts of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failure to provide proper sustenance after officers responded to an east side address for a report of a woman physically beating her small dog.
Officers spoke with a witness who said Penhollow had slapped the dog, then picked the dog up by the back of its neck and threw the dog into a tent where she was seen kicking the small dog as it was yelping loud enough for the neighbors to hear three doors down. The woman also allegedly had a ferret inside the tent that she had not fed or given water to in 4 days. The ferret was allegedly inside a cage with a reported broken leg
Officers said they were able to see the small dog visibly terrified from human contact. Officers placed Caroline into custody without incident. Officers seized both animals on scene.
Penhollow was then taken to the Jamestown City Jail where she is being held until she could be arraigned.
