Dunkirk man charged after being found with bags of cocaine
A July incident in the city of Dunkirk led to a pair of arrests for a city man.
Dunkirk Police report that around 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 24 officers responded to an address on St. Hedwigs Avenue for a reported physical domestic dispute. Upon arrival it was determined the suspect, Jetchuan A. Reyes, 35 of Dunkirk, had prevented the victim from calling 911 for help and pushed the victim through a porch railing during the dispute.
Reyes was arrested by officers on scene and transported to the city police headquarters for processing, where eight individual baggies containing a significant amount of an unknown powder substance was located on his person. The powder was sent to the state Police Crime Laboratory for analysis, which determined it to be cocaine.
A warrant was then requested for Reyes for an additional felony charge of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. On Oct. 1, at approximately 10:18 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Reyes on the 600 block of Main Street, where he was taken into custody on the warrant. Reyes was transported to the city police station where he was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.
