Dunkirk Fire responds to call on Lincoln Ave.

DUNKIRK — An “aggressive attack” by City of Dunkirk Firefighters got a fire under control at a residence in the city.

City of Dunkirk firefighters responded to a structure fire at 156 Lincoln Ave. in the city at approximately 7:13 p.m. on Monday. According to the City of Dunkirk Fire Department, upon arriving on the scene, crews found smoke and fire coming from the first floor on the side of the house, extending to the second floor inside of the wall. Firefighters using multiple hose lines and tools to bring the fire under control.

The Fredonia Fire Department and East Town of Dunkirk Fire Department assisted the City of Dunkirk on the scene. Additionally, City of Dunkirk Police and Alstar EMS responded to the scene, along with City Code Enforcement, National Fuel and National Grid.

Dunkirk Police blocked off a small section of Lincoln Ave., while the firefighters quickly addressed the fire. An hour after the call was received, a faint smell of smoke still lingered through the air as nearby residents looked on to see firefighters calmly exiting the building.

All occupants of the house made it out safely and were assisted by the Red Cross. City and County Fire Investigators determined the cause of the fire to be electrical in nature.
