Fredonia eyes Monday budget approval

Fredonia’s trustees will take one more look Monday at a 2025-26 budget proposal that no one seems content with.

A proposed property tax increase of approximately 65% is the obvious source of the discontent.

“We will be discussing it in our workshop on Monday,” said Trustee Jon Espersen when asked about the status of the budget.

Trustees could pass the budget at their meeting Monday, which follows the workshop. A resolution to pass the budget is on the agenda.

Fredonia’s trustees have already met four times specifically about the budget. They are working off a budget originally proposed in early March by Mayor Michael Ferguson.

Starting at $3.50/week.
