Man busted for crack after struggle
Dunkirk police arrested a man Thursday over drugs after a struggle.
The Dunkirk Police Department reports that on Thursday at around 6:16 p.m., one of its officers stopped a vehicle on Lincoln Avenue for an observed Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. Further investigation led to the discovery of several illegal narcotics in the possession of the operator, identified as Kevin M. Tibbetts, age 55, of Dunkirk.
While attempting to place Tibbetts into custody, he reportedly struggled with officers, and attempted to destroy the suspected narcotics by stepping on them, hitting one of the officers with his foot in the process. Tibbetts was transported to Dunkirk Police Department headquarters, where he was processed and the narcotics were identified as two different amounts of controlled substance pills and suspected crack cocaine.
Tibbetts was later released on appearance tickets charging him with three counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and single counts of second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, and second-degree harassment, along with Vehicle and Traffic Law infractions.
