Centaur Stride plans open house Saturday

Grace Graham, volunteer in pink T-shirt, leads a horse during the trail ride for Ripley School Horse Club.

A summer open house will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. at Centaur Stride. The events include rider demonstrations, tours of the facility, information on programs and volunteer opportunities, Meet & Greet Our Therapy Horses, with a treat station and introduction to riding (small donations).

Fundraising efforts continue with our 22 amazing baskets to be raffled off at 1 p.m. Tickets to enter the Vacation Beach Home Weekend at Angola on the Lake, generously donated by Richard and Marjorie Waite, will be available at the Open House. The drawing is on July 26, 2025. Tickets for this drawing will be also sold at the Westfield Arts & Crafts Festival on July 25 and 26.

Door prizes and snacks provided.

Featured at this Open House will be the work of Grace Graham and her Girl Scout Gold Award Badge research project. Grace started riding at Centaur Stride when she was seven years old and as soon as she was 13, she signed up to be a volunteer. Now, 10 years later, she wants to make it possible for more people to benefit from the programs at Centaur Stride. Her research involves finding as many sources as possible for funding people with disabilities to be able to engage in the activities here. Come to check out her results.

Centaur Stride is a therapeutic and recreational facility that is inclusive, integrated for people with and without disabilities, and founded on the healing power of horses and nature to enhance overall well-being of mind and body.

Our wellness program is now recognized by Independent Health Insurance and their Health Card is now accepted at our center.

Horseback riding is therapeutic for everyone. You don’t need to have a physical disability to engage in our programs. The integrated nature of our programs fulfills our mission of inclusion for everyone, with a “reverse” concept. It is the people without disabilities that are the minority and offered the opportunity to engage in helping others.

Centaur Stride is located at 8488 Jones Road, Sherman. For more information, email info@centaurstride.org.

Starting at $3.50/week.
