Steven L. Cybart
At the annual convention of the eight-district department of New York, Steven L. Cybart was chosen as the District Commander, the son of World War two veteran the late Robert Cybart, and his wife Laura.
Cybart was a graduate of Fredonia High School and the State University of New York at Fredonia. A veteran of the United States Army post Vietnam, Cybart took his GI Bill and furthered his education in Criminal Justice while maintaining his service connection through the New York National Guard, where he was deployed on special assignment to New York City just after the 9/11 tragedy.
After college he was employed and eventually retired from public service with the Town of Ellicott Police Department. With a diploma in hand, Cybart advanced his military career to that of commissioned officer serving as company commander for the 1/27 Armor unit assigned to Jamestown. His last assignment was as an officer assigned to the 2/98 training brigade in Gerry, retiring at the rank of captain.
Throughout Cybart’s extensive military career his loyalty and patriotism led him to the American Legion at Henry Mosher Post 638 in Falconer, where he held multiple offices from adjutant, treasurer and finally commander. Cybart also served as County Commander for Chautauqua County in 2022-2023 before relocating to Samuel L. Derby Post 556 in Frewsburg. For district level positions he has previously served as vice commander as well as chairing several standing committees,
He resides in Chautauqua County with his wife, Rebecca, three sons Robert, Thomas and Nicholas and grandchildren Harvey and new arrival Charles.
Cybart has set his sights on continuing the high level of patriotism that is supplied by the “Mighty Eight District.”
