Person In Custody In Fourth Street Homicide
JAMESTOWN — A Jamestown man is in custody and has been charged with murder after a Friday morning incident in the city.
The investigation began at 4:54 a.m. at 314 W. Fourth St., Apt. 5, according to scanner reports.
Upon arrival, the Jamestown Police Department located 62-year-old Michael R. Jaeckle deceased with an apparent injury from a crossbow.
During the investigation, 58-year-old David W. Nelson of Jamestown was taken into custody while being in possession of a crossbow. He was later charged with murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree. Nelson is currently in the Jamestown City Jail awaiting arraignment.
The Jamestown Police Department is being assisted by the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Chautauqua County Forensic Investigation Team, New York State Police, Ellicott Police Department, and Chautauqua County Coroner’s Office.
