Tenure, phones get discussion in Ripley
Brittany Rammelt
Ripley Central School Board of Education members approved tenure for fourth-grade teacher Brittany Rammelt at their meeting this month.
School Principal Sara Centanni recommended Rammelt for tenure without reservation. “I have had the opportunity to observe Brittany’s work and can confidently say that she is an educator whose dedication, professionalism, and student-centered approach make her an asset to our school community,” she said.
Board President Paul McCutcheon welcomed Rammelt and said she is a great addition to the Ripley faculty. “I’m really happy with all of our staff and faculty here. You all do a great job,” he said.
Centanni also reported that Ripley has had 14 new students enrolled during the summer and zero students have withdrawn. She also noted that Eagle U had a successful summer, with approximately 50 students attending daily.
In his report, Superintendent William Caldwell said how pleased he was with the attendance at Eagle U and with the number of students enrolled. He went on to say that preparations for the new school year are coming along very nicely. “There’s no reason we should not be ready for school,” he said.
Caldwell told board members that the new cell phone policy is online, on the district’s website and was also added to the handbook, along with the revised code of conduct.
The website states, “Per Education Law Section 2803, beginning September 2025, the use of all internet enabled personal devices by students is prohibited during the school day.”
Caldwell expressed his confidence in the implementation of the district’s cell phone policy. “I’m sure there will be some adjustment, but Mrs. Centanni has done a good job talking to the students and the teachers about the policy,” he said.
The first day back for faculty and staff was Tuesday and the first day of school for students is Tuesday, Sept. 2. The district held a Meet the Teachers Night on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
