Art in Recovery exhibit in Dunkirk on Friday

Melita Lyon is one of the artists whose work will be in the Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County’s 2025 Art in Recovery Exhibit. The event will be at Grace Lutheran Church, 601 Eagle St., Dunkirk.
After its initial showing last month in Jamestown, the 2025 Art in Recovery Exhibit presented by the Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County (MHA) will be on display at the north county recovery center in Grace Lutheran Church, 601 Eagle St. in Dunkirk Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
The show features a collection of various types of art, including paintings, fiber arts and photography. All are created by participants in the weekly Art in Recovery classes at both MHA’s Jamestown and Dunkirk recovery centers. The works are an artistic expression of their own creativity and personal recovery.
Volunteer Wing Haight-Wills facilitates the Art in Recovery Dunkirk group. Facilitators of the Jamestown group are MHA staffers Dianne Valvo and Brandon Griggs.
MHA Executive Director Michael Nordin and Grant Manager Michelle Colaiacovo will be at the exhibit to welcome visitors, and refreshments will be served.
Free and open to the public, this event is made possible in part by support from the United Arts Appeal of Chautauqua County Projects Pool Grants Program.
