City man wanted on firearm warrant nabbed

A city man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant of second-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon and loaded firearm was nabbed by Dunkirk officers on Sunday morning after a vehicle pursuit.

City police report at about 11:30 a.m., officers attempted to perform a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Trevon D. Tripp, 21, who failed to comply and attempted to flee from officers in the vehicle.

Tripp, whose last known adddress was on Central Avenue, was taken into custody shortly after he abandoned the vehicle and led officers on a foot pursuit. In addition to the outstanding warrants, Tripp has been charged with third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of marijuana, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless driving and six additional vehicle and traffic infractions.

During the incident the Dunkirk Police were assisted by the Fredonia Police Department and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department.
