Boy Scout Troop holds Court of Honor

Fredonia’s Boy Scout Troop 267, sponsored by American Legion Post #59 in Fredonia, held a Court of Honor on August 26. The Court of Honor ceremony began with the Advancement of Colors and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Master of Ceremonies, Matt Brown, Life Scout. Chaplain Walt Sedlmayer shared the invocation, and Scoutmaster Thomas Annear welcomed the Scouts and their families.

One hundred and twenty-five merit badges, awards and rank advancements were given out by Scoutmaster Thomas Annear and Jim Stenger, Pack 267. One scout received the rank of Tenderfoot: Jackson Gollnitz. Ryan Proffitt advanced to Second Class Scout. Ethan Johnson advanced to First Class Scout. Alex Cooley and Justin Powell earned their Eagle Scout rank and will be awarded this honor at a later date.

Eighteen Scouts from Troop 267 attended a weeklong summer camp at Camp Merz in Mayville. Fourteen scouts attended a weeklong summer camp at Camp Massawepie located on Tupper Lake. Camp Merz awards were given to Isaac Williams, Charli Callen, Alex Biscaro, Jackson Gollnitz and Gary Spengler. Camp Massawepie awards were given to Matt Brown, Riley Smith Mallon, Ethan Johnshon, Ryan Proffitt, Alex Cooley and James Johnson.

Joe Bowers, Lenieth Velez-Olmo, Matt Brown and Calder Annear were awarded the Scout World Conservation Emblem. Matt Brown received the Complete Angler Emblem and National Outdoor Achievement Award (Conservation). Justin Powell earned the 100 Nights of Camping honor. Paul Bunyan Woodsman Emblem, Firem’n Chit and the Totin’ Chip were received by Devin Batten, Sam Bowers, Jackson Gollnitz, Riley Mourer, Cameron Reinelt, Jack Spengler, Cooper Stenger, Alex Biscaro, and Orion Thompson. The Firem’n Chit and Totin’ Chip were also awarded to Madison Crowell, Natasha Kemp, and Charli Callen.

Troop 267 meets Mondays at 7 p.m. at Memorial Post 59, 156 E. Main St. in Fredonia, and is open to all boys and girls who are at least 11 years of age or have completed the fifth grade.
