On top: Fredonia needs one last push

It comes down to today.

The Small Business Revolution has announced Fredonia, through Monday afternoon, remained in first place in the contest to win a $500,000 revitalization. Voting ends at 11 p.m. today.

Monday’s voting update was announced before 2 p.m. In the Facebook post, Small Business Revolution notes: “This is the final standings update we will post before voting closes. … Keep those votes rolling in — a lot could change with 24 hours left on the clock.”

Chautauqua County Chamber of Commmerce sent out this plea today as well: “We are getting down to the wire! Fredonia remains in first place, but larger communities are close behind and it’s a tight race,” the e-mail read. “We need support from all of Western New York to win this. Keep up the great work and vote!”

Todd Tranum, president and chief executive officer of the county chamber, also called on the community to “finish strong.” “We are in first and our goal is to stay there as this race is getting tight,” he said. “We believed this would be a close competition as we are up against communities three times our size.”
