GOWANDA — The Gowanda Chamber of Commerce is bringing back its Summer Music Series for 2020, featuring four different bands.

The Summer Music Series will be at Chang-Hu Park on West Main Street in Gowanda from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The first date will be Thursday, featuring Return Trip, formerly known as Band of Brothers, then July 16, featuring Barnstorm, then July 23, featuring Crash Cadillac and July 30, featuring Paul Zittel & Pure Country.

In previous years, the music series was held at the Gowanda American Legion, but the organization is not allowing the chamber to use its location this year, which is why the series will now be at Chang-Hu Park in Gowanda. The legion chose not to host the series this year because of concerns with the pandemic.

The series used to be held at Chang-Hu Park for years, but then was moved to the legion for insurance issues.

“Even though people prefer the legion, it will be nice to see people out and enjoying something,” said Mary Stelley, member of the board. “The legion was a bit concerned with COVID-19, but it will be a nice time regardless.”

The chamber is reminding folks planning to attend that social distancing rules remain in effect and masks or face coverings are required while walking around the park. Food and refreshments will not be available due to COVID-19, but the chamber will be supplying water bottles and encourages people to bring their own food and refreshments.

“We will be making a tracing list, with names and phone numbers just in case,” Stelley said. “We will make sure people are following the guidelines so that others feel more comfortable coming out.”

The Music Series is sponsored by the Gowanda Chamber Members, the village of Gowanda and the towns of Collins, Perrysburg and Persia.
