Silver Creek hearing on school delayed
SILVER CREEK — A public hearing regarding the application for a New York state grant to restore one of Silver Creek’s historic buildings will have to wait another two weeks.
The Silver Creek Village Board has rescheduled the public hearing on the grant application to restore the old school building located at 60 Main St., Silver Creek until early next month. The public hearing was set for Monday, Sept. 19 at the next Village Board meeting, but is now scheduled for the following meeting on Monday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
The plan for the restoration of the building is to construct a 47-unit assisted-living senior center. The hope is that rooms can be rented out sometime in June 2024.
The Housing for the Elderly Program through the Department of Housing and Urban Development previously authorized a grant for $4.6 million, as one of only 30 in the entire United States that was announced in 2021.
The latest grant application — through Restore New York’s Empire State Development — will still need to be submitted by the middle of October.
