MAYVILLE — The Chautauqua County Office of Probation has earned state recognition for its continued commitment to professionalism, public safety and accountability, receiving a Certificate of Commendation from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), Office of Probation and Correctional Alternatives, after achieving a 99% DNA collection rate among individuals sentenced to probation supervision during calendar year 2025. Weaver of Westfield was charged with second-degree criminal contempt at 1:23 p.m. Monday after officers were dispatched to a Westfield home for a report of an unwanted person. Weaver allegedly was violating an order of protection. He was charged and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail to be arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Part program. The Lakeshore Humane Society will hold its 22nd Annual Pat McGee Memorial Dog Walk on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Lakeshore Humane Society Adoption Center, 431 E. Chestnut St. in Dunkirk. This event is named in honor of the late New York State Sen. Pat McGee who worked to fight animal cruelty and supported the Felony Animal Cruelty Law, also known as Buster's Law.
