Silver Creek School superintendent leaving for larger school

SILVER CREEK – The head of the Silver Creek School district is leaving for a larger school district in western New York.

On Tuesday, multiple Buffalo media outlets reported that the Niagara-Wheatfield School Board has agreed to hire Daniel Ljiljanich to become its new school superintendent in July. He will be replacing Dr. Lynn Fusco. Fusco is leaving after two years to become the BOCES District Superintendent for the Erie 1 BOCES.

Ljiljanich has served as the Silver Creek School superintendent since 2012.

The Niagara-Wheatfield Central School District is located in Niagara County and has about 4,200 students. By comparison, the Silver Creek School District serves around 1,100 students.

Niagara-Wheatfield School Board President Steve Sabo told the Buffalo News Ljiljanich was given a five-year contract and will be getting an annual salary of $165,000.

Ljiljanich lives in Williamsville with his family. He got his undergraduate degree from SUNY Fredonia, his master’s from SUNY Buffalo and his Canisius College’s Educational Administration and Supervision Program.
