Fredonia plans update on boil-water today
There was no news regarding the boil-water order in the village of Fredonia on Sunday.
Mayor Doug Essek postponed the press conference, which was scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday. It has since been rescheduled to 3 p.m. Monday.
Since Sept. 10, the village has faced a boil-water emergency due to algal blooms in the reservoir and the need for replacement of filters at the water treatment plant.
During the process, it has created a hardship on some businesses — mainly restaurants — and the State University of New York at Fredonia campus. It also was a topic of debate at the last Village Board meeting on Monday.
This is the second time in three years the village has been in a boil-water state.
