Silver Creek starts new year with few changes

SILVER CREEK — Even though the year turned over and the village of Silver Creek held their swearing-in ceremony for their elected officials, the faces of the board all stayed the same.
On Monday night, Mayor Jeff Hornburg was officially sworn in to continue his role of village mayor, while Trustees Sandra Lindstrom and Stephen Romanik each followed Hornburg in getting re-sworn into the roles they were serving in.
Members of the clergy were not invited to the swearing in ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions, Hornburg said. “We’re fine, everybody is masked up, and everything is good,” he said. “But I erred on the side of caution.”
As part of the reorganizational meeting, village attorney Peter Clark was reapproved to continue serving his role for the village.
In other business, Romanik said the village’s camera system has been worked on. Although it is going slower than anticipated, it’s his understanding that New York State Electric & Gas approved the electrical inspection, which will now allow DFT to connect to the camera system.
“That was quite a process,” Romanik said. “After that’s done, we should be up and running.”
The next meeting of the Silver Creek Village Board is on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. While the Board was originally scheduled for a meeting on Monday, Jan. 17, the meeting was canceled in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
