Wreaths Across America returns to Fredonia

Wreaths Across America was last held in Forest Hill Cemetery in December 2019.

The Dunkirk Composite Squadron of Civil Air Patrol is participating for the 6th year in 2022 at The Forest Hill Cemetery in Fredonia on Dec. 17 at noon.

This year, the ceremony at Forest Hill Cemetery will be held simultaneously across the Country joining more than 1400 participating locations across 50 states to ensure that Veteran’s laid to rest are Honored.

The program honors Veterans in each branch of the USA Armed Forces when a wreath is purchased for them. Cadets participating learn more about our local Veterans and spread patriotism and commemoration for the ultimate sacrifices they made for our country. They lay each wreath on the grave and hold a salute of respect to represent a 21 Gun Salute.

Wreaths may be ordered for three types:

¯ grave specific honor.

¯ honor someone not buried in Forest Hill, example: buried at sea.

¯ non-grave specific.

Civil Air Patrol does benefit as this is a fundraiser that helps support the Civil Air Patrol Program. Membership is open to any youth 12-18 years and senior members over 18 years.

If interested in ordering: wreathsacrossamerica.org/ny0192p and any questions may be directed to Capt. Linda Blodgett (716) 785-0795.

The time to order for this year’s Honor Wreath is extended to Tuesday. The cost of each wreath is $15.
