Dunkirk principal retiring, another to add duties

The Dunkirk City School District is bidding farewell to one principal and giving additional duties to another.

The district Board of Education accepted the retirement of School 5 Principal David Boyda, effective Jan. 31. It also made Adam Hernandez principal of students in grades seven through 12. Hernandez was previously principal for the seventh- and eighth-graders.

Hernandez will take over the overall secondary school principal job from Rebecca Farwell. She will become the district’s director of curriculum instruction and assessment, a new position, on July 1.

The board made numerous other personnel moves Tuesday, including:

¯ Coaches for the 2023-24 sports season. Among these are: Frank Jagoda, varsity baseball; Quinn Bankoski, varsity girls basketball; Sixto Rosario, varsity boys basketball and varsity girls soccer; Zachery Meadows, varsity boys soccer; Salvador Flores, varsity wrestling; Flores and Connor Aitcheson, varsity softball; Laura DeBicki, varsity girls bowling; Dennis Keppel, varsity boys bowling; Adam Woefle, varsity boys and girls track, and cross country; Treasure Thomas, varsity girls volleyball; Edwin Gomez, girls flag football; Michelle Gilmour, unified bowling; and Allie Saye, varsity boys and girls swimming, and varsity boys and girls tennis.

¯ Jeremy Dobek was hired as district director of technology and communications.

¯ Administrator Corinna Hogge, who is director of special programs and grants, received tenure.

¯ Daniel Skinner was hired as a business teacher.

¯ Susan Chaffee, Kasandra Cruz and Erich Dickey were hired as substitute teachers.
