Encouraging words: Brocton embraces school book fair

The students and families at Brocton Elementary recently had a record-breaking Scholastic Book Fair. New librarian, Jacob Galofaro, said he is so grateful for the support that Brocton families showed towards this event.

“I was so impressed and thankful for the families for this support,” he said. “They see that their children love books and they understand that this excitement for reading is such a wonderful thing. The families in this community, I just can’t thank them enough”

Galofaro, a Brocton school alumnus himself, wanted the Book Fair to feel like a real bookstore for the students to experience.

“It was like they built a whole bookstore in the school,” said third-grader Alyson Ossman. Her mother, Noel, agreed. “My daughter has been talking about this Book Fair for weeks. She loves reading and I love to encourage that.”

Elementary principal, Sandra Kopiczak, was really impressed. “I was so pleased to see such excitement. Mr. Galofaro worked so hard and the students absolutely loved it,” she said.

“I really enjoyed it, I wish we could have book fairs more often,” said fifth-grader Aria Donato. Aria and her grandma visited the book fair several times during the week it was open.

The students and Mr. Galofaro are already looking forward to the next Book Fair next fall.
