Trees seeking homes in Westfield program

Since 2017 more than 300 trees have been planted in the village of Westfield.
In 2017, the village of Westfield Department of Public Works started a planting program based on an Urban Forestry Management Plan that was developed by a consultant. Since then they have planted more than 300 trees throughout the village.
Many of these trees were paid for by a grant from the New York state Department of Environmental Conservation. They plan to continue to plant every spring and fall season and will plant approximately 20 trees this fall.
If residents are interested in having a tree planted in the village right-of-way (typically between the sidewalk and the street), please send an email to Tree Board Chairman Pete Holt at Westfieldtreeboard@gmail.com.
While officials may not get to your site planted this fall, if the site is recommended for planting they will keep it on the list for future plantings.
Sites will be matched with tree species that are ideal for that site by the consultant. They will take into consideration overhead wires, the area available for planting and the proximity to sidewalks and streets.
