Area senior wins second 4-H title
Charlotte took the National title for Public Speaking with her speech, “Do You Have a License For That?” looking at horse welfare and the ethics of working with horses.
Her first National title was last year in the Individual Presenter category where she gave an illustrated PowerPoint talk about EPM (Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis), a neurological disease affecting horses.
This year’s Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup saw 243 4-H youth from 24 different states competing in Horse Communications, Horse Judging, Hippology, and Horse Bowl. The Roundup takes place during the North American International Livestock Exposition held at the Kentucky Expo Center.
The Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup provides a place for youth to compete nationally while encouraging teamwork and self-confidence, and while focusing on the 4-H Mission Mandates: Science, Engineering, Technology, Mathematics, Healthy Living and Citizenship.
Charlotte resides in Stockton with her parents, Jamie and Sara Couchman. She loves her horses and chickens, reading, four wheeling, and spending time with friends and family.
She plans on pursuing a career as a Registered Nurse after graduating.
