SILVER CREEK — Matt Bogosian is the new President of the Silver Creek Board of Education. He was elected at the district’s reorganizational meeting this month.
Bogosian will take over for Martha Howard, who remains as a Board member. Jerry Cross will replace Bogosian as Vice President.
One of the first items of business for the newly configured Board was the approval of a contract extension for Superintendent Dr. Katie Ralston. The new contract was approved July 1 and will run for five years, through June 30, 2030.
“I love being here. I love this job,” Ralston said. “Any superintendent job is hard, but working with a fantastic Board makes everything that much more possible.”
Ralston credited the school administrators for the work they do to fulfill the district’s vision. “I feel really fortunate. I’m in a really great place,” Ralston said. “I’m happy to be here every day, and I’m glad they want me here every day.”
The district-wide School Safety Plan was also presented for review. The plan allows for a 30-day period for public comment prior to its adoption. The district also adopted an updated Code of Conduct and approved the district’s plan for special education for the 2025-2026 school year. A series of budget transfers were also approved by the Board.
Contracts with Stark Tech Operating Company and Southtown Audio Video were approved by the Board. An agreement to enter into a data privacy agreement with RIC ONE Risk Operations Center was also approved.
Conference requests for the NoCo Middle Level Summer Institute; the AASA 2025 Legislative Advocacy Conference; and the NYSCOSS 2025 Fall Leadership Summit were also approved by the Board.
The district will be reducing its schedule of regular meetings this year. Unless otherwise stated, the Board will now meet once each month, on the second Thursday of the month, at 7 p.m., with a workshop preceding each meeting at 6 p.m.
The next regular Board of Education meeting will be Aug. 14 at 6 p.m.
