Perrysburg shooting claims two lives

PERRYSBURG — Two males who were residents of the Seneca Nation, ages 18 and 23, died in a shooting in the town late Monday.

New York State Police said Tuesday morning the incident happened off Whites Drive on the Cattaraugus Reservation of the Seneca Nation of Indians. State Police at Collins responded to the call around 11:27 p.m. They were assisted in the incident by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department, the Erie County Sheriff’s Department, the Gowanda Police Department, Gowanda Fire Department and the Seneca Nation Marshals.

A third victim in the incident was treated for wounds at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo and released. He was transported by Gowanda Ambulance.

All members of the families have been notified, State Police said at a press conference, noting there is no active threat to the public. State Police also are working with family members as part of the investigation.

Officials say at least nine shots were fired in the incident and a weapon has been recovered.

There was no suspect in custody as of early Tuesday afternoon.
