City school employee charged in endangerment
The arrest of a Dunkirk City School District employee has led to the district issuing a statement on its Facebook page and web site.
On Wednesday, the Dunkirk Police Department said Alexander D. Phillips, 29, of Orchard Park was charged with child endangerment. The arrest was made after the department received the complaint with the Dunkirk School District, the Dunkirk Police school resource officer, and the Dunkirk Police Detective Bureau all working closely together.
“The safety and well-being of all members of the school community are among the District’s top priorities,” the statement from the school district said.

According to city school Board of Education minutes, Phillips was awarded tenure by the school board on Aug. 31, 2024, and was teaching English as a New Language.
District officials said Phillips has been on administrative leave since it became known of this issue several months ago, and the matter is being addressed internally.
Phillips will answer charges in city court later.
