Four charged after drugs, weapon found in city residence

Items recovered from 81 Lincoln St., upper apartment, in Dunkirk.

Four north county residents were charged after an investigation into narcotics activity in the city of Dunkirk on Monday.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies report a search warrant was executed at 81 Lincoln Ave., upper apartment. Officers from the Dunkirk Police Department along with Narcotics Investigators from the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office and the Jamestown Police Department executed the warrant with Dunkirk Police Special Response Teams making entry into the residence.

Located inside at the time was Dakota O. Cordell, 28, Dunkirk; Taylor M. Austin, 23, of Stockton, Matthew S. Eggelston, 36, of Fredonia and Robert S. Ryen, 55, of Dunkirk. As a result of the search Investigators seized 331.69 grams of methamphetamine, 5.35 grams of cocaine, 2.42 grams of crack cocaine, 14.55 grams of fentanyl, 79 dosage units of suboxone, scales and packaging material used for the sale and distribution of narcotics, a .44 magnum revolver and $4,908.

A records check of the revolver revealed it to be stolen. Cordell was charged with second-, third-, and seventh-degree criminal Possession of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Austin was charged with three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a firearm, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia.

Eggelston was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Ryen was charged with first-degree criminal nuisance. Ryen and Eggelston were both issued appearance tickets and released. Cordell and Austin were both was transported to the Dunkirk Police Department to be arraigned in the City of Dunkirk Court. The investigation is ongoing with additional charges expected.
