HANOVER --- An incident early Friday with a weapon has led to charges. Around 12:01 a.m., members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office responded to an altercation. Through an investigation it was found that 38-year-old Jamar Fountain or Irving to have intentionally placed a person of reasonable fear of serious physical injury by displaying a deadly weapon. Fountain was located a short time later and taken into custody on second-degree harassment and second-degree menacing charges. He was transported to the Chautauqua County Jail for Central Arraignment Program.

Chautauqua County’s Safety Net program is once again running in the red and needs millions of dollars to cover its shortfall. One way or another the county will have to come up with the funds for the program, but at least one county official doesn’t want its reserves used to make up the difference.
