Wdowiasz pushes council to speed up budget

Dunkirk council members got the first draft of a 2027 budget calendar last week. Mayor Kate Wdowiasz immediately told them it needs to get sped up. Wdowiasz attended a meeting of the Common Council’s Finance Committee as a spectator. Committee chairman/Councilman-at-large Nick Weiser handed out copies of the budget draft before the meeting began. Trustee Paul Wandel offered a news-filled report at the latest Fredonia Board of Trustees meeting, topped by talk about water. Wandel said that on May 13, he and water treatment plant supervisor Luis Fred visited the plant and reservoir “to investigate any concerns. State urges residents to be ready for extreme heat

New Yorkers are being urged to prepare for a period of extreme heat starting Tuesday with "feels-like" temperatures expected to reach the 90s and low 100s across Western New York, and the high 80s to low 90s in eastern parts of the state and New York City.
