Angela E. Schibler
Angela E. Schibler, 76, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Lake Shore Hospital in Irving, New York, after a lengthy battle with pneumonia.
Born on February 4, 1939, in Dunkirk, New York, she attended Silver Creek High School, graduating in 1957, and also attended Buffalo State Teacher’s College.
Angela was predeceased by her mother, Genevieve Cuccia; her father, Angelo Cuccia; and a son, Timothy Edward Schibler.
She was married for 57 years to Thomas H. Schibler of Silver Creek, NY, and is survived by Thomas and their three children; Thomas A. (Olena) Schibler of Coronado, CA, Terrence R. (Gena) Schibler,of Osprey, FL and Suzanne J. Schibler of Allegany, NY. She is also survived by her brother, Dr. Anthony (Margaret) Cuccia and a sister, Mary Sherill (Gene) Bull. Angela is also survived by four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews along with their children.
Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at a young age, she lived with the disease for the better part of her adult life. Angela participated in several research studies to help further the understanding of the disease before making the ultimate commitment to research by donating her body to the University of Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Angela was also an active member of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Silver Creek, NY.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Angela’s name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society Buffalo Office, 4245 Union Rd., Suite 108, Buffalo, NY 14225.
