Anita L. Brown

Anita L. Brown, age 89, of St Columban’s on the Lake, formerly of Dunkirk and Fredonia, NY, passed away October 18, 2016. She was born in Dunkirk, NY on February 17, 1927 the eldest daughter of the late Dominic and Elda Lofano.

Anita was an R.N. who attended the University at Buffalo and graduated from the Millard Fillmore School of Nursing. She was employed at Brooks Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk for a short time before opting to be a stayathome mom and farmer’s wife.

She was involved as a den mother, Brownie leader, and was also very active in 4H, especially the beef animal program. She and her husband were honored to be awarded the Friends of 4H Award in 1977.

In recent years, Anita served on the Woman’s Committee of the Chautauqua County Fair Association, was a member of Fredonia Memorial American Legion Post #59 Women’s Auxiliary, as well as several senior citizen clubs. She also volunteered at Brooks Memorial Hospital in the surgical waiting room, beyond the age of 85. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fredonia, Anita enjoyed visits from her church friends. She also enjoyed playing pinochle in her long time card club of very special friends.

She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, the late Warren K. Brown, an infant daughter, Beverly Ann, as well as an infant son, Kenneth Mark.

Anita is survived by: her son, Randall (Randi) Brown of Ocala, FL; her daughter, JoAnne Brown of Amherst, NY; her grandchildren: Lisa Felgemacher of Buffalo, NY; Allison (Kyle) Kelley of Brooklyn, NY; Eric Felgemacher of Buffalo, NY and Michael Brown of Gainesville, FL; her sisters: Vilma Ellis of Whitesboro, NY and Mirna Trillizio of Williamsville, NY; brother inlaw, Marshall Brown of Dunkirk, NY; sisterinlaw, Karen (Paul) Ellis of Forestville, NY. Also survived by nieces and nephews.

According to her wishes, there will be no calling hours. There will be a private family gathering at their convenience.
