Duncan R. Calhoun
Duncan R. Calhoun, age 60, of Sherman, N.Y., died unexpectedly on Sunday December 31, 2017 at Westfield Memorial Hospital with his loving family at his side. He was born June 30, 1957 in Canandaigua to the late Richard and Electra (nee Hubbel) Calhoun.
Duncan was a farmer, a mechanic and farm repairman. He enjoyed model building and fishing. Duncan was creative, mechanically inclined and possessed musical talent that he passed on to his youngest son Angus.
Duncan was a United States Navy veteran. He served in Holly Lock, Scotland, where he met his wife, the former Mary Peden. Their eightday romance turned into a forty-year marriage.
He is survived by his wife of forty years, Mary (nee Peden) Calhoun; three children, Virginia “Ginny” (James) Nichols of Brocton, Duncan J. (Deena) Calhoun of Busti and Angus R. Calhoun of Sherman; grandchildren, Ryan R. and Easton J. Sanders; two brothers, Douglas and Barney Calhoun; his sister, Sairy Calhoun; and several other family members.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Murdock’s Family Restaurant, 100 E. Main Street, Sherman, N.Y. from 26 p.m.
