Jared Babcock

Jared Babcock, 25, born September 15, 1992, passed away February 3, 2018 at home in Newark, Delaware.

Jared, a graduate of Silver Creek Central School attended Jamestown Community College, and was an 82nd Airborne Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army.

SPC Babcock excelled in the military and “Distinguished himself as an Engineer Trailblazer by clearly exceeding standards.” SPC Babcock was awarded many certificates and medals including the Army Certificate of Achievement, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and Parachute Badge. He was one of the selected few to be chosen to participate in Jungle Warfare training in Gabon, Africa in 2016 and as a member of the Global Response Force at Fort Bragg, NC. SPC Babcock was an outstanding Team Leader for Bravo Company 37th 2nd Platoon. He instantly earned the respect of his subordinates underneath him.

Jared is survived by his soul mate Lea Narwold of Newark, Delaware; devoted parents John and Jami Babcock of Silver Creek; siblings Lindsay Ebling, Jordan Ebling (Kathy Collins); nephew, Orion; nieces, Bailey, Isabella, and Ophelia; and grandparents, Robert and Patricia Babcock of Fredonia, Sharon Kuhl of Fredonia, and W. Dale Waterman of Forestville. Jared is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Jared was predeceased by his brother-in-law Nicholas Bankosh.

Jared was an extraordinary human being with an infectious smile and intuitive spirit that reached the heart of all he touched. He was especially caring to his Aspire Group Home family members and continued to remain in contact and visit when he was home on leave. The loss of this kind, compassionate young man is tragic to all who knew him.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, February 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home, 736 Central Ave. Dunkirk, NY. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11 a.m. in the McGraw-Jared-Babcock-2Kowal Funeral Home. The Reverend Michael Pollock will officiate. Burial will be at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery, 12152 Hanover Road, Silver Creek, NY. There will be a luncheon beginning at noon at The Colony Restaurant, 876 Main Road Irving, NY.
