Joanne (Michalski) Schmatz

Joanne (Michalski) Schmatz, 81, of Mishawaka, IN., formerly of Dunkirk passed away September 24, 2018. She was born April 3, 1937 in Dunkirk to the late Felix and Lottie Michalski. Joanne graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and Bryant & Stratton Business Institute. She married Philip F. Schmatz in May 1959 in Dunkirk and he preceded her in death in November 1987. Upon moving to IN, she worked in the office of Modular Plastics until her retirement. Joanne loved to read and cook, but her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed going to all her sons and grandchildrens sporting events and was a huge fan of Notre Dame and the Chicago Cubs.Joanne is survived by her sons; Daniel (Lori) Schmatz, William (Patti) Schmatz and Robert (Cindy) Schmatz, all of IN., 8 grandchildren and a sister, Diane (Ron) Millonzi of Fredonia. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Philip G. Schmatz and a sister, Sally Romance.Funeral Services were held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in
