Joseph A. Kulig

Joseph A. Kulig, age 65, passed away from complications due to cancer on Monday morning, May 20, 2019. He was born April 29, 1954 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Joseph W. Kulig and Carol D. (Nikitas) Kulig. The second oldest of eight children, Joe graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1972. Aside from a brief residence in Texas and Pennsylvania, Joe was a lifelong resident of Dunkirk. He worked at Firestone and George Ray Tire in sales and service before Cliffstar, where he was employed for several years before retiring. Joe was an avid golfer and played regularly with local adult leagues. Most

recently he was a member of the Gene Andolina League at the Vineyards Golf Course in Fredonia. On any given day, you could find him out on the green. And if he wasn’t golfing, he was probably watching golf or grilling up some steaks.

Joe is survived by his children, Jodi (Zach) Ogren of Maplewood MN, Carly Ulrich of Brooklyn and Joseph W. Kulig II of Seymour TN, whom he shared with former spouse, Pamela Cranston; and siblings, Cheryl (Tom) Evans of Elmira, Thomas (Donna) Kulig of Dallas TX, Susan Roesler and James Kulig both of Dunkirk; 4 grandchildren, Marty, Adayla, Grady and Olivia.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Diann Kulig, brothers Kenneth and John Kulig and brother-in-law Robert Roesler.

Come celebrate Joe’s life on Saturday, May 25, 2019 in the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home. Visitation from 11 am to 1 pm. Service at 1 o’clock. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The American Cancer Society.
