Henrica R. Kiernan

Henrica R. Kiernan, formerly of Folger St. Buffalo, passed away Friday June 7, 2019 at the age of 97.

Born in Sloan, NY September 4, 1921 the daughter of Henry and Louise (Woznich) Chmielowski.

Henrica was a U.S. Army Veteran, honorably serving during WWII. She married her husband, James D. Kiernan, while both were stationed in England.

Henrica was a member of the Holy Family RC Church Buffalo, The Lackawanna American Legion and the Polish Women’s Alliance. Henrica and James were married in the Norwich Cathedral in Norwich, England April 2, 1945. James passed away March 14, 2010.

Together they were proud parents of 10 children, survivors include: James (Carol) Kiernan of Westminster, Colorado, Patrick (Rose) Kiernan of Port St. Lucie, Fla, Daniel (Denise) Kiernan of Davenport, Fla., David Kiernan of Gowanda, Brian (Anne) Kiernan of Orefield, Pa, Louise A. Kiernan of Portland, Or., Margaret (William) Forsythe of Kennewick, Wa., Colleen (Mike Barrett) Kiernan of Portland, Or. and Kathleen (Jeff) Budil of Portland, Or. 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren also survive along with nieces and nephews .

Besides her parents and husband, Henrica was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Kiernan along with three sisters; Emily Nowak, Alice Matyjasik and Rita Wianecki.

Friends may call at the SCHINDLER FUNERAL HOME 44 Center St. Gowanda Friday from 4-8 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday June 15, 2019 at 1 a.m. from St. Joseph’s RC Church East Main St. Gowanda (please assemble at church) Interment with full military honors to follow in the St. Stanislaus Cemetery Buffalo.

If desired, memorials to a local charity of ones choice.
